Services provided here are for psychotherapy, serving patients over the age of 18 years old. This is NOT a hospital setting (Tier 1), nor is it a crisis clinic (Tier 2). As a Tier 3 service, there are limits to the work that can be done in this setting. Incoming customers are screened for appropriateness for the setting. If you have questions about this, please ask.
The belief in this office is that we're human beings who need more face-to-face conversations & less machines between us. Some fast-food-type mental health services offer texting, phone calls, chats and other open social media platforms. The written word can be misinterpreted where tone was not intended, emails can get lost or intercepted, and a whole host of issues can occur that jeopardize your confidentiality and mental well-being. For ethical, legal, and historic reasons that benefit you, those "extra services" are not offered here.
Over time, customers have asked for recordings or videos on this Provider's work so they "could take her home and play her back as needed". Therefore, some brief videos for the YouTube channel (@estikta) are available as well as educational content created by others in the Playlist. Please do not comment on any of these posts so that you are either identified as a client or have others weigh in on the post in a critical way. As social media is not monitored 24/7, this is not a safe means of contact, especially in a crisis. If you are in crisis, please go to your nearest emergency room, call 9-8-8 to talk to someone about your mental health, or even call 9-1-1 for emergency services to arrive at your location. "Liking", "following" or "heart-ing" on anything by this Office does not constitute endorsement of the person or entity posting. Some posts can even be altered after receiving "clicks". The Provider works diligently to avoid acknowledging anyone that is receiving professional services with this Office, for your privacy, in public, online, and in person.
Due to the lack of providers in the more remote areas of Northern California, all of Northern California will be served and the provider may be able to travel depending upon conditions. This Provider has the ability to serve people all over the world upon proper arrangement. She has extensive experience working in Native America and with rural populations as well as in medical clinics and urban areas. Consultations and expert witness testimony are available upon special arrangement.
This Provider has been practicing in the social work field since 1993, licensed in California since 2017 www.bbs.ca.gov . Graduating with honors from Humboldt State University (now Cal Poly Humboldt), California. Kate is a daughter of Humboldt County and the City of Eureka. Her family has been on the North Coast since time immemorial, with traditional stories being handed down through the generations. With federal policy and historical events that spread family all throughout Northern California, Kate travels all of Northern California and provides services for these populations. Having a background in local history and family law has been a benefit to working regionally. Kate was primarily raised by her grandparents and was exposed to generational knowledge, traditional practices, and rural living, intersecting with various cultures, religions and various ways of thinking. In discovering inconsistencies among various agencies, she returned to school to learn to speak multiple languages. She was a CalSWEC recipient, specializing in families and children, taking on special interests in generational trauma, non-verbal families, estranged families, autism and trafficking issues. She has written several books and engages in traditional Native American practices today. Kate continues to engage in continuing education, contributing where it is possible and offering a variety of therapies.
